What to Know About the Tesla Model 3's Interior Features

Model 3’s controls are all electronic, with only a few mechanical buttons. But that touchscreen is packed with high-tech features. The standard Autopilot system can accelerate, steer, and brake on the highway. It can also change lanes and self-park. The optional Full Self-Driving (FSD) upgrade adds traffic speed matching, lane guidance, and the ability to summon your car from its parking spot like an autonomous valet. Tesla FSD Beta takes this technology a step further, providing users with an advanced beta version of Full Self-Driving software, incorporating cutting-edge autonomous driving capabilities and continuous improvements.

Navigation

The Model 3’s navigation system displays a live map of your current location. In addition to showing you where you’re headed, it provides traffic information. Green indicates free-flowing traffic, while yellow and red indicate congestion. Tesla’s navigation system also displays the estimated time you’ll reach your destination. It considers the current traffic conditions and speed limit of your selected route. When navigating to a goal, you can access the estimated time on the right side of the infotainment screen. Tesla also shows you how much energy the trip will use and allows you to select a preferred charging station for your return. It’s a great feature for those who want to minimize range anxiety during long stops.

Another handy aspect of the navigation system is that it shows you how busy a Supercharger typically is during various times of the day. You can also view the cost to charge your vehicle at each Supercharger, and you’ll get an idea of how busy it will be when you search for a specific destination. The Tesla Model 3’s navigation system is useful for anyone who drives an EV. It’s easy to operate and offers valuable traffic information. Any customer interested in purchasing a used Tesla may be best to watch declining used inventory levels and pricing, which can come from the firm or via used markets. Even though many individuals have sold or traded in their Model 3s, the used Tesla Model 3 is still a good deal.

Seats

The seats in the Model 3 are comfortable and spacious. They’re also heated, which is a nice touch during cold mornings. However, if you’re looking for a little more legroom in the back seat, consider looking into the Model Y or another SUV. The Tesla Model 3 is nippy around town and has the power to keep up on the motorway. Its standard features include a panoramic glass roof, keyless entry and exit, climate control, and faux leather seats. You can also get it with a panoramic camera that gives you a brilliant view of your surroundings. It is helpful when parking, so you don’t run into anything or scratch up those expensive alloy wheels. While most of your controls are on the infotainment screen, there are two steering wheel-mounted rotary knobs for more traditional functions like controlling the headlights and wipers.

Infotainment

As with most EVs, there are no traditional instrument gauges and few physical controls in the Tesla Model 3. Instead, all infotainment functions are managed by the 15-inch touchscreen in the center dash or through scrolling wheels on the steering wheel. It is a big adjustment for anyone used to driving cars with several dials and switches. Still, it is an important innovation that Tesla can continue to improve on in future vehicles. The first thing you’ll notice when entering your Tesla is a panel to configure your vehicle’s lights and other settings. It includes the ability to turn off your lane-detection cameras, and you can also set whether or not the car’s doors will automatically lock or unlock when the paired key gets closer or farther away from the vehicle.

Beyond that, you’ll see a panel to modify your vehicle’s drive mode and tire pressure. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the haptic feedback system and enable the ‘slip start’ feature to help your vehicle get unstuck when it’s stuck in snow or mud. The next few panels allow you to set your time zone, energy display, temperature and swap between driver profiles. From here, you can also set the navigation system to avoid specific roads or highways, and there’s an option to further customize your car’s autopilot functionality by selecting a mode for highway on-ramps and off-ramps.

Climate Control

The Tesla Model 3 has one of the most advanced interiors in the industry. While it is sparse compared to what many drivers are used to, everything is designed to function perfectly and to make your time in the car as enjoyable as possible. The infotainment system is on a large central touchscreen measuring 15 inches. It is where you control everything about your vehicle, including the climate controls. You can also use the touchscreen to operate headlights and windshield wipers. You can even activate some of the “Easter eggs,” such as the setting that transforms the map into Mars or turns your car into a sleigh with Santa sitting in it. Rather than using traditional gauges like a tachometer, the screen’s left side displays the information you need to know while driving. The report includes a graphic representation of Autopilot, your current speed, shortcuts to the trip computer, and your charge status. A new feature in the most recent software update will prevent cold air from blowing into the cabin when you turn on the heat. It is a welcome improvement for anyone who has had to deal with this.
